Ken Dale Travel Bursary 2010Are you in the developmental stage of your career? Would you like to spend up to 4 weeks researching building services engineering overseas? The Ken Dale Travel Bursary makes awards available of between £1,500 and £4,000 to CIBSE members in the developmental stage of their career who wish to spend three to four weeks outside their own country researching aspects connected to their field of work and which will benefit CIBSE, their employer, their clients and the profession. CIBSE is especially keen to encourage applicants to take-up the award for research that articulates CIBSE's concern for the environment. The Bursary also offers the candidate the opportunity to experience technical, economic, environmental, social and political conditions in another country and to examine how these factors impact the practice of building services engineering. Ross French, who won the 2009 Ken Dale Travel Award travelled to over 8 countries researching "Traditional approaches to water management in the Levant and their applicability to contemporary development". CIBSE’s Society of Light and Lighting would like to congratulate Seda Kacel who won the prestigious award at the 2010 ARC Show for lighting. Seda, who lives and works in Turkey impressed the judges with her paper and presentation on ‘Spiritual Lighting’. SLL would also like to congratulate the three other finalists, Anna Whittaker, Mitja Prelovsek and Vasiliki Papakammenou. Entries for the 2011 Award will open in the next few months – stay tuned!
The YEN Awards 200- 9th July 2009 Young Engineer Champions win CIBSE Awards for 2009
AECOM and Steensen Varming have proved their commitment to developing young engineers – winning at the inaugural CIBSE Young Engineers Network Champions Award.
The awards are run by CIBSE Young Engineers Network, in partnership with the Arkwright Scholarships Trust. Young engineers from the winning companies will also have a chance of benefitting from a free place at the CIBSE 2010 National Conference – thanks to trophy sponsors Baxi Commercial Division.
